Mike – I love Maine. I can smell it and taste it and see it just thinking of it – and it’s all due to those marvelous summers there. I am so happy I was able to evoke a happy memory for you, too. Lucky you to have the Chesapeake experience. That’s one I have not yet had the opportunity to enjoy. You’re sweet to consider a book, Mike. For the record, Tart Love has a delicious Lowcountry Boil Puff Tart that was inspired by LC shrimp boils. Have a wonderful weekend!

You description of your Maine summer took me back years to the New England summers of long ago and very happy memories of lobsters and steamers served on beer trays. Those days have been replaced by memories of crab feasts in the Chesapeake and and now low country shrimp boils in SC! I have been resisting buying one more cookbook but will be sure to pick your’s up as my next purchase. Thanks for sharing and recreating such a great memory!

Thanks for the kind words – we enjoyed the day as much as you did – good guest always make for a good time. We will have to do it again soon – with crabs, corn & shrimp next time.

Thank you, Jane. This is a surprisingly sexy and delicious soup, even though the name doesn’t imply such. The key is the freshest sweet turnips and onions of spring.
